Vote Yes on G to protect Hayward students from deep and devastating school budget cuts!

Hayward schools are facing millions in budget cuts due to reduced funding from the federal Department of Education and unstable state funding that only supports a very basic education.

Hayward students have already experienced deep budget cuts and are facing millions more in cuts that will directly impact classroom programs, academics, teachers, and may require closing entire Schools.

Voting Yes on G won’t prevent all the cuts, but it will prevent the most devastating cuts that threaten critical support for all students, including those with special needs.

YES on G will:

  • Support programs that help students learn to read, write and improve math skills

  • Sustain strong academic programs in reading, writing, math, art, and science

  • Attract and retain highly qualified teachers and staff and minimize layoffs

  • Preserve literacy programs that help students learn to read

  • Keep high school students engaged in their education, prevent dropouts and help students compete for college and good jobs

Strict Fiscal Accountability and Local Control is Required

  • By law, all funds must stay local for Hayward schools only and cannot be taken away by the state or federal governments

  • An independent oversight committee, annual audits, and public spending disclosure is required

  • Seniors and low-income people with disabilities are eligible for an exemption

Students succeed when they are supported and have good teachers, particularly when students come from marginalized communities. Measure G will keep good teachers in local classrooms and protect proven student support programs that help local students succeed.

Protecting our students and keeping our schools strong, makes Hayward strong.

Whether or not you have school-age children, supporting quality education is a wise investment that protects our quality of life and property values.
